SIMPLE TICS

Habit spasms or simple tics are common in childhood. They tend to occur in rather tense, easily worried, & highly strong children who may be suffering from too much pushing by ambitious or perfectionist parents. The child with a tic often shows some other manifestation of psychological upset, e.g. nail biting, temper tantrums, sleep disturbances and night mares.
Common forms of tics are, eye blinking, frowning, head shaking, shrugging one’ s shoulder, clearing the throat repeatedly, nervous cough, sighing and jerking an arm.
