PICA

Pica or dust eating is also found in many children who belong to poor families and always remain under-nourished. It is potentially dangerous. The principal danger is lead poisoning from eating bits of wood painted with lead containing paint. A few disturbed children pluck out their hair and eat it. This leads occasionally to the formation of hair ball or trichobezoar in the stomach which causes vomiting and a hard palpable mass in the upper abdomen.
